Description
We manufacture three types of condensers: spiral, plate, and tubular.
Spiral Condenser
The spiral condenser is a basic design consisting of a copper coil housed in a galvanised container. We also manufacture the containers in stainless steel, and the coil can be 6 to 9 metres long. The main advantage of this type is that the large volume of cooling water in the container means that a continuous water flow is not required. Cold water can be added manually as needed, depending on the temperature of the distillate. The disadvantage is that cleaning the inner surface of the coil is difficult. This should be done at least once a year and can only be carried out chemically. The optimum cooling-water temperature for this type of condenser is up to 20 °C.
Plate Condenser
The plate condenser is made of stainless steel. Its main advantages are the dismountable design and easier cleaning of the surfaces. Compared with the spiral condenser, it has a smaller volume, lower cooling-water consumption, and a longer service life. However, it requires a continuous flow of cooling water. The optimum cooling-water temperature for this type of condenser is up to 15 °C.
Tubular Condenser
The tubular condenser combines the advantages of both types. Its stainless-steel construction is dismountable, allowing for easier cleaning. At the same time, it contains a larger volume of cooling water and provides a larger cooling surface area. This type also requires a continuous flow of cooling water, with a temperature of up to 18 °C. The cooling-water flow rate for plate and tubular condensers can also be regulated automatically using a Danfoss thermostatic valve. For easy, continuous measurement of the alcohol content in the distillate, the condenser can be fitted with a copper or stainless-steel parrot with alcoholmeter.
